EMBOLIZATION HELPS IN IMPROVING FERTILITY

Damaged internal valves result in dilated veins and further effect sperm count and sperm quality. Apart from infertility, they can cause discomfort and dragging pain while standing, walking, running and jumping.

NEVER NEGLECT SIGNS OF VARICOCELE

Watch Varicocele embolization in action

Varicocele embolization works by closing the dilated, damaged veins in the scrotum. By closing the damaged veins, blood gets redirected through the healthy veins. This closure of damaged veins results in better sperm count and improved sperm motility.

  • What are uterine fibroids?
Uterine fibroids, medically termed as leiomyomas, are benign tumors that originate within the uterine muscular wall. This prevalent condition primarily impacts women of childbearing age, posing significant reproductive health concerns. Fibroids exhibit a wide spectrum of sizes, ranging from small, imperceptible nodules to large masses that can distort the shape and dimensions of the uterus. Chat directly with Dr. Nagateja for FREE if you need more information.
  • What causes uterine fibroids?
The development of uterine fibroids is not entirely understood, though hormonal influences, especially estrogen and progesterone, are believed to play a role. As hormone levels fluctuate during a woman's reproductive years, fibroids may experience growth and variations in size. Chat directly with Dr. Nagateja for FREE if you need more information.
  • What are the symptoms of Uterine fibroids?
While some women with uterine fibroids may not experience any noticeable symptoms, others may face a range of issues. These symptoms can include heavy menstrual bleeding, prolonged periods, pelvic pain or pressure, frequent urination, difficulty emptying the bladder, constipation, and abdominal bloating. Chat directly with Dr. Nagateja for FREE if you need more information.
  • What is uterine adenomyosis?
Uterine adenomyosis is a condition where the tissue that lines the uterus (endometrial tissue) grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. This can cause the uterine wall to thicken and enlarge. Breaking down the exact word, "Adeno" means Glands, and "Myo" means Muscle. Adenomyosis means the uterine glandular tissue growing into the muscle walls. Chat directly with Dr. Nagateja for FREE if you need more information.
  • How are fibroids and adenomyosis different?
Fibroids and adenomyosis are completely different problems occuring in the uterus, but most often we see women having both these problems together. Thats the reason, sometimes just a simple ultrasound may not be sufficient and a detailed MRI would be required to diagnose the exact cause of symptoms. Most often the symptoms of both fibroids and adenomyosis appear similar and are difficult to differentiate clinically. However, most of the times, adenomyosis is more painful compared to the pain from fibroids alone. In most of the ultrasound reports, a mention of bulky uterus is most frequently associated with presence of either a fibroid or adenomyosis. It requires further investigation with MRI scans if clinically indicated. Chat directly with Dr. Nagateja for FREE if you need more information.
  • How are Fibroids Diagnosed?
Fibroids and adenomyosis can be easily diagnosed by clinical examination, followed by simple Ultrasound test (ultrasonography). Sometimes a detailed Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be required.
  • What are the treatment options for Uterine fibroids and adenomyosis?
Treatment options for uterine fibroids are based on several factors, including the severity of symptoms, size and location of the fibroids, and the patient's reproductive plans. Possible treatments include: a. Observation without intervention, b. Medications to manage symptoms, c. Non surgical procedures like uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), and d. Surgical treatments such as Myomectomy (fibroid removal) or Hysterectomy (uterus removal). Deciding on the most suitable treatment should be made in consultation with a doctor, taking into account the individual's unique needs and preferences. • What is uterine artery embolization and how does it work?
Uterine artery embolization is an advanced procedure done by Interventional radiologists for the treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, arteriovenous malformations and bulky uterus. Interventional radiologist would introduce a thin tube like device called catheter into one of your blood vessels in your thigh and navigate that catheter into the blood vessels which supply blood and nutrients to your uterus. The same blood vessels are also connected to the ones which supply nutrients and necessary growth factors to the fibroids and adenomyotic tissue within the uterus. These abnormal blood vessels are blocked permanently using special blocking agents and the catheter is removed from your body. As the blood supply, nutrients and growth factors are stopped to the fibroids and areas of adenomyosis, they die and shrink in size naturally. It is completely painless and procedure is usually finished within 35-45 minutes. Chat directly with Dr. Nagateja for FREE if you need more information.

  • What are my chances of pregnancy after embolisation?
With the latest advancements in uterine artery embolization techniques which are followed by Dr. Nagateja, the chances of pregnancy after embolization are pretty much normal as before embolization. We follow the latest guidelines to preserve blood flow to the ovaries, so that the egg production (ovum production) is not affected. However, after any treatment on the uterus, some time needs to be given for the uterus to completely heal and be ready for pregnancy. Ideally, we advise all our patients who undergo uterine artery embolization to wait for 3 months to 6 months. This is only for planning pregnancy and is not a waiting period to resume normal sexual activity. Chat directly with Dr. Nagateja for FREE if you need more information.
