Fibroid treatment in India with advanced non-surgical embolization

Performed by an interventional radiologist through a needle-sized puncture under imaging guidance. Send your scans for a written plan and estimate before you travel.

About this treatment

Fibroids cause heavy periods, anaemia, pelvic pressure and pain, and in many countries the advice is a hysterectomy or an open myomectomy. Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a different approach. An interventional radiologist passes a thin catheter through a small puncture at the wrist or groin and blocks the blood supply to the fibroids, which then shrink over the following months. The uterus stays in place.

UFE is not a medicine and not a physiotherapy or herbal programme. It is a real image-guided procedure, done under imaging guidance with local anaesthetic and light sedation. It suits many women, but not all, and your MRI or ultrasound decides.

Who it may suit

  • Heavy or prolonged periods, or anaemia, from fibroids
  • Pelvic pressure, bloating or frequent urination
  • You want to keep your uterus and avoid major surgery
  • Fibroids confirmed on ultrasound or MRI

What to send us

Share these on WhatsApp or email and the doctor will tell you whether this treatment is likely to help before you decide to travel.

  • Pelvic MRI or ultrasound report, and the images if you have them
  • Recent haemoglobin and basic blood tests
  • A short note of your symptoms, periods and any earlier treatment
  • Whether you hope to become pregnant, because that changes the advice

Your time in India

Most women go home the same day or after one night, and are back to routine in about a week. Plan for a few days in Hyderabad around the procedure for assessment and a review before you fly, and your team will confirm the dates for your case.

After you go home

Symptoms improve gradually over 3 to 6 months. A follow-up scan at home after a few months checks the shrinkage, and we share your procedure report so your local gynaecologist can see exactly what was done.

What it costs

A starting amount for a shared room, in the currency you choose. It is the same figure Indian patients see, and treatment is billed in Indian rupees. Your written estimate confirms what applies to you.

Questions from international patients

In most suitable cases, yes. UFE treats the fibroids and leaves the uterus in place. If you hope to become pregnant, tell the doctor first, because myomectomy may be advised instead.

Send your MRI or ultrasound. The doctor reviews the size, number and position of the fibroids and tells you honestly whether UFE is likely to help, before you decide to travel.

The procedure itself is day-care or one night. The rest of the time is for assessment and a review before you travel home. Your plan gives the expected dates.
